Job Summary
Program, process development, and shop support for large VTL, VBM, and 5-axis gantry machines up to 2.5m. Generate and maintain CNC programs using NX-CAM or similar software for multi-axis milling, turning, grinding, and EDM. Verify new programs with Vericut and incorporate Renishaw on-machine probing for validation. Provide daily operator support, troubleshooting, and training for new machine startups and process improvements. Lead process improvement projects to enhance safety, quality, cost, and delivery. Support tooling and fixturing requirements while creating workstation instructions for CNC issues. Manage tight tolerances on large-format equipment and complex nickel-based superalloys in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
Required Qualifications
- 4 years of experience with graphical based CAM System CNC Programming
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with high-level machine tool controls including sub-routine(macro), Renishaw probing routine, and variable based programming, as well as CLM (closed loop machining)
- Significant "hands-on" background as a machinist, with the ability to personally setup and prove out complex first-piece programs
- A track record of managing tight tolerances on large-format equipment (VTLs/VBMs/etc up to 2.5m) where part deflection, work hardening, and thermal stability are critical factors
- Extensive experience machining nickel-based superalloys (Inconel, Rene, Hastelloy, etc.) common in Heavy Duty Gas Turbine (HDGT) or Aerospace industry
- Strong problem solving and organization skills, with above average shop math skills in geometry and trigonometry
- Demonstrated proficiency interpreting drawing requirements
- Ability to multi-task and productively manage multiple projects concurrently
Desired Qualifications
- Siemens NX CAM experience preferred and will be given priority
- Experience creating 5-axis CNC programs using a CAM (preferably NX) system
- Experience using Vericut (preferred) or other CNC verification/machine simulation software
- Strong familiarity with multiple machine controls including Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, & Siemens
