Job Summary

Oversee CNC programming and machining operations by creating programs with CAM software, selecting cutting tools, and optimizing processes to reduce runtimes and costs. Operate a variety of CNC equipment including 5-axis mills and lathes to machine parts safely while maintaining set-up sheets and coordinating parameters with machinists. Review daily priorities, assist with expediting jobs, and implement cost reduction ideas or new tooling technologies. Create fixtures, redline design changes, and document improvements to enhance manufacturability. Maintain equipment, clean work areas, and track time sheets while collaborating with engineering and scheduling teams to meet delivery due dates.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Thorough understanding of machining
  • Experience with CNC/CAM programming
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience running CNC 5Axis Mill
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience running CNC Mill turn Lathe
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience running NC Mill
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience running NC Lathe
  • Able to read, understand and analyze engineering drawings of piece parts
  • Proficiency in sound dimension practices
  • GD&T knowledge
  • Ability to use a variety of measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, thread gages, etc.) to accurately measure parts and features
  • Able to effectively troubleshoot and solve a variety of machining problems
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft products (particularly Excel)
  • Database management capabilities
  • Communicates clearly and effectively (verbally and non-verbally) to individuals and groups, internally and externally, to exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately
  • Works well with a variety of people and personalities, and with other Delkor departments
  • Works collaboratively, as a team member, to suggest ideas and resolve issues in a positive manner
  • Well organized with an aptitude for detail

  • Apply physical mobility (reaching, bending, climbing, crawling, kneeling, and arm and leg extension) to perform all assembly production activities
  • Possess extensive arm and hand mobility and strength to lift, hold, reach, carry, push and pull parts
  • Able to move parts, tools, equipment and materials in and out of vehicles
  • See and judge distances and space relationships to successfully complete detailed activities to fine tolerances, including reading written plans and other documents
  • Must be familiar with the operation of a variety of CNC controlled machines including lathes, mills, vertical machining centers as well as manual saws, drills, lathes, etc.
  • Must be able to use general office equipment such as computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, copiers, e-mail, calculator and other such equipment
  • Fifty percent (50%) of the work duties performed are in the Machine Shop with exposure to tools, dirt, dust, chemicals, metals, and plastics, varying temperatures, construction noises, and odors from the production processes
  • Fifty percent (50%) of the work performed is in an office setting, carrying out detail work at a desk and working on the computer or working at an office table

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong preference for experience with CAMWorks
  • Two-year degree in Machining or CAD/CAM
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling software – SolidWorks
