Job Summary
Develop, optimize, and maintain complex multi-axis CNC programs using Mastercam, focusing on 5-axis milling with 3+2 programming. Generate collision-free toolpaths while maximizing cycle time, tool life, and machine efficiency for close-tolerance components. Interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, and engineering documentation to establish tooling, machining sequences, and cutting strategies. Design creative workholding, fixtures, and tooling solutions using Mastercam and SolidWorks. Work directly with machinists during setup and prove-out of new programs, troubleshooting machining, tooling, dimensional, and process issues. Make real-time programming adjustments to improve quality and productivity, while collaborating with engineering on fixture concepts and manufacturing improvements. Standardize programming methods and best practices to optimize cycle times, improve repeatability, and reduce manufacturing costs.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of Mastercam programming experience
- Strong experience programming multi-axis CNC mills
- 5-Axis 3+2 programming experience
- Experience in a close-tolerance milling environment
- Strong understanding of GD&T
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and models
- Strong understanding of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, workholding, and machining strategy
- Self-motivated
- Excellent attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with machinists, engineers, and supervisors
- Takes ownership of projects and customer delivery commitments
