Job Summary
Program mills and lathes by entering instructions, setting tool registers, and calculating requirements including geometry and trigonometry. Study work orders, blueprints, and engineering plans to interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances, then verify settings by measuring positions and first-run parts. Set-up equipment by installing chucks, tools, and attachments, while maintaining specifications through drilling, grooving, and cutting operations. Troubleshoot processes, adjust controls, and replace worn tools to ensure quality and safety standards are met. Maintain inventory by checking stock levels and expediting orders, and document all actions through production and quality logs. Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting malfunctions.
Required Qualifications
- 5-10 years' experience setting up and running vertical machining centers able to make adjustments to the program as far as cutter comps and tool length offsets
- Able to read prints
- Able to read mics
- Know GD&T call outs
- Know what the different tools are called that are associated with machining
- Be punctual on time and ready to work
Desired Qualifications
- Having experience running Haas and Hardinge machining centers a plus
