Job Summary
Fabricate structural steel components per cutting lists and shop drawings, ensuring dimensions meet shop drawings and cut lists; identify mill tolerances and adjust machines accordingly; fabricate beams, tubes, angles, channels, bar grating, pipe, plate, or rounds in line with AISC requirements and machine capabilities; operate forklifts and overhead/jib cranes to move materials; identify and address shop drawing errors; follow inventory procedures and safety protocols; use measuring tools and computer systems for cut-lists/inventory; perform minor maintenance on equipment; attend meetings and work scheduled hours on 2nd shift (3:30 PM–1:45 AM); requires the ability to read and interpret shop drawings, perform arithmetic calculations, and communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
Required Qualifications
- High School degree or equivalent
- Minimum of six months of experience in a steel manufacturing environment
- Ability to pass a Drake-Williams Steel administered test that covers shop drawing interpretation, fractional number calculations, basic geometry, etc.
