CNC Operator/Machinist

Job Summary
Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes by loading tools, fixtures, and stock while verifying settings through measurements and first-run parts. Maintain quality and safety standards by observing cutting operations, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, and adjusting tool compensation. Keep equipment running via preventive maintenance, tool sharpening, and repairs while documenting actions in production and quality logs. Apply basic math concepts to machining and read engineering drawings to ensure specifications are met. Work overtime as business needs dictate and participate in educational opportunities to update job knowledge.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years' experience in CNC set up and machining
- Experience with both CNC mills and lathes
- Basic understanding of CNC programs
- Experience in machining with manual mill and lathe
- Knowledge of basic computer software including Word and Excel
- Knowledge of cutting tools
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Ability to work overtime as business needs dictate
- Knowledge and experience with quality control tools, processes, and systems
- Ability to apply basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry concepts that apply to machining
- Knowledge of Renishaw probing systems
- Experience in a heavy equipment/industrial manufacturing setting
- Demonstrated problem analysis and problem solving skills
Desired Qualifications
- Associates degree in CNC machining
- 5+ years' experience in CNC set up and machining
- Experience with a lathe with live tooling
