Job Summary
Operate the Weeke Optimat BHP 200 CNC Router and other production equipment safely, setting up machines for tooling, fixtures, and material positioning. Create, modify, and optimize CNC machining programs while monitoring operations to ensure dimensional accuracy and product quality. Fabricate plastic, acrylic, and polycarbonate components by cutting, routing, and finishing materials to specification, then inspect finished goods using measuring equipment and visual techniques. Perform daily equipment inspections, routine preventative maintenance, and report mechanical or programming concerns. Maintain a clean work environment, wear required PPE, and participate in safety meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to safely operate CNC manufacturing equipment
- Basic understanding of CNC programming concepts
- Ability to read technical drawings and work instructions
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Good mathematical and measuring skills
- Experience using precision measuring equipment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg)
- Ability to safely handle sheet goods and finished products
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust and machinery
Desired Qualifications
- Manufacturing or machining education
- Experience operating CNC routers or machining centres in a manufacturing environment
- Experience reading manufacturing drawings and specifications
- Experience working with plastics, composites, aluminum or similar materials
- Experience with custom manufacturing or architectural products
