Job Summary
Program, set, and operate 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC milling machines using Heidenhain or Fanuc controls to produce complex precision components from engineering drawings. Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs while selecting cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding to ensure parts meet tight tolerances. Troubleshoot machining issues, monitor operations, and perform in-process inspections with precision measuring equipment. Support improvements to quality, cycle times, and production efficiency by completing relevant documentation. This role involves a rotating double day shift with an early Friday finish at an established precision engineering manufacturer in Bristol.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as a CNC Miller Programmer/Setter/Operator
- Strong CNC milling and programming experience
- Experience with 3, 4 and/or 5-axis CNC machining
- Good working knowledge of Heidenhain and/or Fanuc controls
- The ability to independently programme, set and operate CNC milling machines
- Confidence reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Strong understanding of tooling, workholding, offsets, speeds and feeds
- Experience producing complex components to tight tolerances
- Experience using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers and plug gauges
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Previous experience within precision engineering or a highly regulated manufacturing environment would be advantageous
