Job Summary
Develop CNC programs for 3-axis to 5-axis milling machines, selecting cutting tools, fixtures, and parameters to optimize efficiency, cycle time, and tool life. Perform simulations and verify tool paths to prevent collisions, then collaborate with manufacturing engineers and machinists on program implementation. Troubleshoot and modify existing programs to improve part quality and process reliability while documenting programming processes, setup sheets, and tooling requirements. This role supports leading Zeeland manufacturers through long-term partnerships, focusing on multi-axis milling expertise and complex part geometries.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, GibbsCAM) for generating G-code.
- Strong understanding of CNC machining principles, including tooling, fixturing, and material properties.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD models to develop machining strategies.
- Experience with multi-axis milling (3, 4, or 5-axis) and complex part geometries.
- Knowledge of machine shop safety protocols and best practices.
- Troubleshooting skills for optimizing programs and resolving machining issues.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with 5-axis programming.
- Proficiency in CAM software beyond basic G-code generation (e.g., advanced toolpath optimization, simulation).
