Job Summary
Manual Machinist responsibilities include studying specifications and blueprints to determine materials and machines to fabricate parts, setting up and operating manual machines (lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, O.D. grinders), verifying conformance of machined parts to specifications, fitting and assembling parts into assemblies, and completing daily paperwork and maintenance checklists. Candidates should have 1-3 years of experience with lathes, mills, grinders, blueprints; be proficient with calipers, micrometers, and height stands; able to read safety and procedure documents and G&M code; capable of operating manual surface grinder, lathe, and vertical mill; strong shop math skills (geometry, algebra, trigonometry). Journeyman's card and tool/die making experience are pluses. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, pension, significant bi-annual bonus, and 401K contributions.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience with lathes, mills, grinders
- Ability to use calipers, micrometers, and height stand to measure tools
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, G&M code, and procedure manuals
- Ability to operate manual surface grinder, manual lathe, and vertical mill
- Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and proficient in all shop math including geometry, algebra and trigonometry
- Journeyman's card is a plus
- Tool making and die making experience is a plus
