Job Summary
Set up and operate CNC production equipment (milling, turning) to tight tolerances per inch and metric drawings, including programming and overall machine operation. Read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances, with familiarity of Haas and Fanuc controls. Inspect finished workpieces, measure dimensions, troubleshoot deviations, and modify fixtures as needed. Perform routine machine maintenance, ensure safe, clean, and orderly work area, and contribute to on-time deliveries. Location is Rochester, NY, with potential duties at other Thorlabs sites.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years minimum experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent or equivalent work experience
- CNC certification or CNC Trade School (major plus)
- Experience with Haas and Fanuc controls
- Understanding of G codes/M codes
- Strong sense of ownership and work ethic
- Communication skills
- Ability to work in a group
- Knowledge of Lean Principles including Just in Time and Setup Time Reduction (plus)
