Job Summary
Independently set up and operate Swiss machines for various jobs while conducting in-process inspections to ensure adherence to quality standards and production efficiency. Troubleshoot production issues with support from senior staff and assist junior machinists in diagnosing technical challenges during machining operations. Maintain a safe working environment by upholding a proactive safety culture and identifying potential hazards. Work Monday through Thursday from 4:30 pm to 3:00 am onsite in Monticello, MN. This role supports UMC's mission to produce highly complex parts with precision as a privately owned manufacturer.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Machining or related field, or work experience in place of education
- 2+ years' experience as a machinist
- Citizen or Star experience
- Willingness to learn a new platform with positivity and grit
- Ability to express ideas, share information, listen actively, and demonstrate professionalism in written and verbal communication
- Able to read and interpret blueprints
- Use simple math to perform basic calculations
- Use hand-held measuring tools
- General knowledge of CMM, VCMM, and GD&T
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of reading G-code and M-code
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Able to work efficiently with minimal supervision
