CNC Machinist (Rotating Shift)

Job Summary

Set up, operate, and run CNC Mills and Turning Centers to manufacture precision components, interpreting engineering drawings and applying GD&T tolerances. Perform machine setups including tooling, offsets, and fixture alignment while modifying or editing existing programs. Utilize measuring instruments such as micrometers and CMM to verify conformance to specifications and maintain quality. Assist in machine repair when needed and train other operators. Maintain a safe, clean work environment by following preventative maintenance procedures and reporting concerns. Work rotating shifts (Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–3:00 pm or 3:00 pm–11:00 pm) in a loud manufacturing plant environment requiring PPE.

Required Qualifications

  • High school education
  • 2 years technical training
  • Over 5 years of experience in related or subordinate work
  • 6 months on the job training
  • Proficient in reading blueprints
  • Understanding of tolerances and dimensions
  • Familiarity with G-code programming and CNC machine controls
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Commitment to quality
  • Red Seal or equal experience
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time; a minimum of 2 hours
  • Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the office, shop, warehouse, or manufacturing plant
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds
  • Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip items while working at assigned desk area
  • Must have manual dexterity and coordination to operate office equipment
  • Must be able to simultaneously manage several objectives, changing priorities and reassign priorities to complete assignments
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues
  • Must be available for rotating shifts (Monday - Friday: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm / 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm)

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Mazak (Mill-Turn), Okuma, and Haas machines
  • CNC programming experience (at the machine or offline)
  • Experience in precision component manufacturing
  • Proficient in operating manual lathes and mills
