CNC Machinist - Nights

Job Summary
Operate 3 to 5 axis CNC machine tools to accurately machine parts per work instructions, including startup, shutdown, and new tool setups for thread holes, blind holes, and guide alignments. Perform in-process and final product inspections using micrometers, calipers, CMMs, and visual checks to verify conformance while documenting measurements in production logs. Collaborate with engineering to update procedures, support special projects, and mentor junior machinists while maintaining a culture of safety and quality. Generate maintenance work orders for equipment repairs and execute preventative maintenance on coolant lines and nozzle positioning. Work nights from 6pm to 6am ET, starting with a $2000 sign-on bonus.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- 3+ years of CNC Machining experience on 3 or 5 axis CNC machines
- Machine control experience
- Attention to detail
- Quality and safety minded
- Basic proficiency in operating computers, including navigating software and web-based platforms
- Strong shop math skills, including geometry and fractions, and use calculator functions to verify measurements and calculations
- Good written and verbal communication skills

- Must develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of the Silfex Quality Management System
- Must properly apply Quality Procedures and Operating Procedures as appropriate
- Must demonstrate ownership of continuous improvement ideas and activities
- Must assist in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S
- Must maintain organization and cleanliness, housekeeping, and 5S within the work area
- Must create and maintain a culture where workplace safety is part of everything we do
- Must model and follow all company safety policies
- Must report any incidents or unsafe conditions immediately to Silfex management
- Must display a positive attitude

Desired Qualifications
- Certificate from Technical School or Trade School
- Knowledge of GD&T
- Understanding of input tool geometry
- Knowledge of G&M code
- Knowledge of 5S and Lean manufacturing
- Experience machining Si, glass or other brittle material
