Job Summary
Operate CNC machine tools to perform complex progressive machining operations on diverse components ranging from small to large, adjusting speeds, feeds, and machine calibrations based on provided programs and operational data. Check parts for conformance to specifications and perform advanced setup operations, including adjusting tool arrangements, material clamping methods, and console settings for bore, mill, drill, face, thread, and contouring tasks. May run more than one unit simultaneously while working from blueprints, sketches, and written specifications. Available shifts include day shifts Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm or night shifts Monday through Thursday from 4:15 pm to 4:45 am with shift differentials. This role supports Keel's mission of building ships, defense systems, aerospace components, and heavy steel structures for critical missions.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in related position in the machine tool industry
- Job Shop or Prototype experience
- Experience in machining for a very diverse industry base such as: Mining, Aviation, Defense, Rail, Shipbuilding, Heavy Equipment, Gas & Oil and Machine Building
- Experience in machining large and complex work
- Ability to work from blueprints, sketches, and written specifications
- Knowledge of GD&T
- May be required to stand, walk, sit, reach/pull/push with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel regularly
- May lift or carry 50lbs. Weights exceeding 50lbs will require mechanical means to maneuver
