Job Summary
Set up and operate CNC horizontal milling centers and large boring mills to machine precision steel components, including weldments, castings, and forgings. Load, run, and verify CNC programs while adjusting machine parameters to maintain tight tolerances. Perform in-process inspection using precision instruments and operate jib and overhead cranes for material handling. Maintain a clean, safe work environment aligned with strict safety standards. Work the 2nd shift in South Milwaukee, WI, earning a base rate of $30.86/hr with a $1.00/hr shift premium and a $2,000 sign-on bonus. Produce critical parts for large mining machines like Cat Electric Rope Shovels, supporting continuous improvement and quality initiatives within a high-precision manufacturing team.
Required Qualifications
- 1–3+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience
- Experience with horizontal boring mills or large machining centers
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong understanding of machine shop math (including basic trigonometry)
- Experience using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Knowledge of G-code/M-code programming fundamentals
- Understanding of machining processes and terminology
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
- Must be available for 2nd Shift
- Must be located in South Milwaukee, WI
- Must successfully complete a drug screen
Desired Qualifications
- Experience machining large steel structures or heavy equipment components
- Familiarity with Fanuc and/or Siemens CNC controls
- Experience with tight tolerance machining on large parts
- Prior experience in heavy industrial or OEM manufacturing environments
- Crane operation or rigging experience
