Job Summary
Design, set-up, and perform a variety of machining tasks according to customer specifications with little supervision. Mentor less experienced machinists by communicating machining processes and technical data while transferring knowledge of procedures and requirements. Maintain equipment and schedule preventative maintenance, gathering and recording dimensions in accordance with quality assurance standards. Adhere strictly to established safety rules, codes of conduct, and company policies throughout daily operations. Requires an Associate degree in testing, science, or mechanical fields, plus 3-6 years of machining shop experience.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in related testing or science field
- 3-6 years of experience in a machining shop environment
- In-depth understanding of specimen preparation
- Depth of understanding related to machining concepts, measuring instruments and dimensional concepts
- Working knowledge of machine shop safety protocol
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- HS diploma or GED certificate
- College or vocational school coursework
- Associate degree mechanical related field
- Must be able to lift 50+lbs periodically
- Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
- Ability to lift <50 lbs. often and > 50 lbs. on occasion
