Job Summary
Set up and operate CNC machinery, including lathes, mills, and grinders, while reading blueprints, technical drawings, and G-code to determine machining operations. Inspect finished parts for quality and adherence to specifications using precision measuring instruments and perform routine maintenance on equipment. Troubleshoot issues related to machine operation, programming, and tooling, then select and load appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials. Monitor machine operations, making adjustments as needed to maintain part quality and production rates. This role is part of a network connecting skilled professionals with leading manufacturers in Byron Center, MI.
Required Qualifications
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings
- Demonstrated ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC mills and/or lathes
- Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming
- Skilled in using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, etc.) to ensure part quality
- Knowledge of various metals and materials, cutting tools, and machining parameters
- Adherence to safety protocols and quality control standards in a manufacturing environment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)
- Proficiency in using various measurement tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, bore gauges) for quality control
- Ability to perform preventative maintenance on CNC machinery
- Forklift certification
- Prior experience with 5-axis machining
