Job Summary
CNC Machinist operates 4- and 5-axis BWXT machines (mills, lathes, mill-turn) to manufacture large precision components with tight tolerances, reads/interprets technical drawings, sets up tooling, may transfer/reprogram programs, and collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering to optimize processes. Responsible for ensuring safety, achieving first-pass throughput, conducting in-process inspection, utilizing metrology tools (micrometers, calipers, profilometer, height gauge, indicators, edge finders, thread/pin/bore gauges), performing basic preventative maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement within a nuclear-grade manufacturing environment in Oakville, Ontario. Requires 5+ years of multi-axis CNC experience, ability to read drawings with GD&T, and flexibility across shifts; certification of qualification is an asset and experience in aerospace/defence/nuclear is advantageous.
Required Qualifications
- Able to use a variety of BWXT machines and work on multiple BWXT parts to varying degrees of complexity.
- Educational background in manufacturing or equivalent experience working on CNC machines.
- CNC Machinist with a Certificate of Qualification is an asset.
- 5+ years of experience running 4 and 5 axis CNC mills, multi-axis lathes, long lathes, and/or mill/turn machines.
- Experience working in the aerospace, defence or nuclear industry is a definite asset.
- Able to read and interpret engineering component drawings including a strong understanding of metrology and GD&T.
- Demonstrated ability as an adaptable team player with strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong ability to work independently to complete assignments promptly while maintaining the high standards required in our industry.
- Experience using lifting devices (cranes and forklifts).
