Job Summary
Operate CNC machine tools to machine components and units to specified tolerances by interpreting drawings, routings, and specifications. Determine applicable CNC programs, set tool and work offsets, and adjust feeds and speeds to achieve efficient machining. Verify material quality and quantity prior to work, perform layouts, and confirm work through inspection and checklists to ensure compliance with fabrication requirements. Obtain necessary materials, fixtures, and tools while rigging and operating forklifts to move materials and tooling. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, maintain 5s housekeeping activities, and conduct daily safety checks on power vehicles. Assist in training new employees and new Ml or M2 classifications as directed.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Vocational Technical Training program which includes the operation of CNC equipment, measuring tool training and tooling applications
- High School Degree or completion of equivalency program
- Three (3) years' experience in diversified machining operations which focus on CNC machine tool operation and programming
- Knowledge of machining technology, mechanical principles, shop mathematics, job layout, precision measuring procedures, machine set ups, operating methods and machining characteristics
- Requires passing a written Ml classification test with a score equal to 85 percent or above
- Lifting of material up to 30-35lbs
Desired Qualifications
- An additional 2 years of CNC machine tool experience may be substituted for this at the discretion of the machine shop Manager
