Job Summary

CNC Machinist I operating, monitoring, and optimizing CNC machining processes to produce high-precision components in a production environment. Responsible for reading blueprints, applying GD&T, performing advanced inspections, adjusting tooling, offsets, and process parameters, and supporting setup, process validation, and first-piece verification. Provides technical guidance to less experienced operators, maintains documentation in ERP, and participates in continuous improvement initiatives. Requires HS diploma/GED, 3+ years CNC experience, ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T, G/M-code familiarity, and strong measurement and inspection skills. Works with mills, lathes, and precision metrology equipment; rotates to 3rd shift with 1st-shift training and a 10% shift differential. ITAR/EAR compliance and safety expectations are noted.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or vocational equivalent required
  • Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience within a precision manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience operating CNC mills and/or lathes, including offset adjustments, tooling changes, process monitoring, and troubleshooting production issues
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and GD&T requirements
  • Strong understanding of machining principles including feeds, speeds, tool wear, cutting tool selection, and process control
  • Proficiency with precision inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, thread gauges, optical comparators, and similar metrology tools
  • Working knowledge of G-code and M-code programming, including the ability to review and perform minor program edits when required
  • Understanding of machine setup principles and machining processes, with the ability to support setup and process validation activities
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve machining and quality concerns
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, attention to detail, and continuous improvement

Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, tolerances and GD&T
  • Proficiency with precision inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, thread gauges, optical comparators)
  • Experience with G-code and M-code programming and minor edits
  • Ability to setup and validate processes, monitor tooling, feeds, speeds and offsets
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to train and assist less experienced operators
  • Willingness to work 3rd shift with training on 1st shift and 10% shift differential
