Job Summary
Calculate dimensions and tolerances using micrometers and vernier calipers to machine parts to specifications on CNC mills and lathes. Set up, adjust, and operate machine tools while aligning fixtures and cutting tools. Monitor feed and speed during operations, measure completed units for defects, and diagnose malfunctions requiring adjustments. Study blueprints and drawings to determine fabrication sequences, evaluate machining procedures for efficiency improvements, and recommend modifications. Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition, ensure work pieces are lubricated and cooled, and dispose of scrap according to environmental regulations. Support metalworking projects from planning through assembly and testing while adhering to safe work practices and maintaining a clean, organized area.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- one to three years of precision machining experience
- knowledge of AX
- knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
