Job Summary
Entry- to mid-level CNC Machinist sought for 2nd or 3rd shift at Fairbanks Morse Defense's Pascagoula, MS facility. Responsibilities include setting up and operating 5-axis/6-axis CNC mills and lathes to produce complex components (e.g., hubs, impellers, propellers), interpreting blueprints and GD&T, selecting tooling and offsets, performing precision quality checks (micrometers, calipers, CMM, gauges), conducting post-processing like deburring/polishing/grinding, maintaining safe/clean work areas per DoD standards, documenting production and maintenance logs, and collaborating with engineers and other machinists to resolve production issues. Requires an associate degree or CNC Machining Technology certification, HS diploma/GED, PPE compliance, ability to stand and lift, 3+ years of machinist experience, proficiency with G-code/M-code and inspection tools, US citizenship, and ability to obtain security clearance and work 2nd/3rd shifts with overtime as needed. Travel not indicated; remote work not offered. The role emphasizes defense-grade precision and contributing to Navy readiness.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or CNC Machining Technology certification (2-year program)
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Able to properly wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Able to stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, lift, reach above shoulders, pull, push, climb up/downstairs
- 3+ years’ experience as a Machinist
- Knowledge of machining fundamentals, G-code, M-code and shop mathematics (Ability to perform basic arithmetic, geometric and algebraic calculations)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T
- Proficiency with precision inspection tools
- U.S. Citizenship required (defense contract work)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
- Ability and willingness to work 2nd or 3rd shift, including overtime, weekends, and schedule adjustments as required to support production demands.
