Job Summary
Set up and operate CNC vertical mills and lathes to produce high-precision molds, tooling, and prototype components. Load cutting tools, establish work offsets, and verify setups before machining while performing first-piece, in-process, and final dimensional inspections. Monitor cutting conditions, identify tool wear and chatter, and make adjustments to maintain quality. Read engineering drawings and work instructions, prepare raw materials, deburr components, and maintain accurate production records. Keep machines and work areas organized, perform preventative maintenance, and communicate schedule risks or equipment issues. This hands-on role at Hybron Technologies in El Segundo supports advanced manufacturing for aerospace, defense, and energy applications, with a path toward CAM programming and manufacturing planning.
Required Qualifications
- Two or more years of CNC machining or related machine-shop experience
- Experience operating CNC vertical machining centers and performing basic-to-intermediate setups
- Ability to prove out new programs and identify unsafe or incorrect machining conditions
- Ability to read engineering drawings, tolerances and basic GD&T
- Proficiency with common inspection tools, including calipers, micrometers, indicators and height gauges
- Working knowledge of cutting tools, workholding, shop math and machining safety
- Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, communication and reliability
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and remain standing for extended periods
- U.S. Person status pursuant to EAR and ITAR definitions
Desired Qualifications
- Three or more years of CNC setup and machining experience
- Experience with Haas CNC mills and lathes
- Experience machining molds, tooling, prototypes or low-volume aerospace components
- Familiarity with probing, tool setters, G-code editing and CNC troubleshooting
- Familiarity with Mastercam, Autodesk Fusion CAM or similar software
- Experience with manual machine tools and controlled quality systems such as ISO 9001 or AS9100
