Job Summary
Set up, operate, and adjust CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment to manufacture precision components for Clarapath's SectionStar and TrimStar Pro platforms. Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions to ensure parts meet design specifications, then install tooling, fixtures, and machine parameters for production runs. Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools to verify dimensional accuracy. Troubleshoot machining issues, tooling failures, and program deviations while loading materials and monitoring operations. Conduct routine preventive maintenance, maintain accurate production logs, and collaborate with Engineering to improve processes and reduce cycle times. Support new product introduction, prototype machining, and training less experienced operators in a collaborative, ISO-certified facility.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 3+ years of CNC setup and machining experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience setting up and operating CNC milling and/or turning centers
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and mechanical blueprints
- Strong understanding of GD&T and machining tolerances
- Experience using precision inspection equipment
- Knowledge of cutting tools, workholding, feeds and speeds, and machining best practices
- Ability to troubleshoot machining and tooling issues independently
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Desired Qualifications
- Technical school certificate or associate degree in Machine Tool Technology or a related field, a plus
- Experience machining stainless steel, aluminum, plastics, and other engineering materials, a plus
- Experience with Haas, Doosan, Mazak, or similar CNC equipment, a plus
- Familiarity with CAM software and basic G-code editing, a plus
- Experience in medical device, aerospace, or other precision manufacturing industries, a plus
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies, a plus
