CNC Machine Programmer - All Levels

Job Summary
Evaluate, select work-holding and tooling, and program, setup, machine, and inspect products from cradle to grave while communicating with design teams. Operate 3, 4, and 5 axis mills, multi-axis lathes, and other NC or manual equipment. Partner with leadership and engineering to prioritize work based on production schedules, document and standardize processes, and ensure conformance to engineering specifications. Perform daily maintenance, regular cleaning, and all tasks in a safe manner. This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, supporting reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles within a culture of safety and collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Passion for our mission and vision
- 10+ years of experience with 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC machining
- 10+ years of experience with manual mill and lathe
- 7+ years of experience with NX
- Full understanding of GD&T and the tools to execute the inspection of
- Ability to take on challenges with incomplete information and pivot to drive progress
- Work well in a collaborative team environment
- Experience machining one or more of the following materials: nickel-based stainless-steel alloys (Inconel, Monel, etc.), Copper, Aluminum and/or Titanium
- Extensive experience with one or more of the following CNC machines: Mazak, Hass, DMG Mori, Mori Seiki, and/or Okuma
- Working knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, Mazatrol or other CNC controls
- Excellent blueprint reading skills including GD&T per current ASME Y14.5M standard
- Familiar with use of personal computers
- Ability to provide Design for Manufacturing feedback
- Must be physically able to: Lift and carry 50 lbs
- U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
- Background Check
- Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if at any time the role requires one to be on a military installation
- Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training if applicable
- Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
Desired Qualifications
- Experience machining vehicle-sized tooling
- Experience in integrating metrology in-line with machining
- Experience machining nickel-based stainless-steel alloys, copper, titanium
- Tooling and fixture design
- Outside processing knowledge, including heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc
- CMM programming/operation experience
- Conversational programming on the machine
- Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts
