CNC Machine Operator - Weekend Shift - Aerospace

Job Summary

Operate computer-controlled CNC vertical and horizontal machines to produce customer orders, accurately interpreting blueprints and drawings while setting up fixtures and workpieces. Perform daily point checks on assigned equipment, remove dull cutting tools, and adjust feed speeds or controls to compensate for malfunctions. Monitor coolant systems, detect irregular sounds, and remove finished workpieces according to required machining sequences. Use precision measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers to ensure parts meet specifications and follow all safety protocols regarding PPE and hazardous equipment.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship
  • U.S. permanent residence (Green Card)
  • U.S. protected person status
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Six (6) months experience in a manufacturing role utilizing CNC machines or similar automated equipment
  • Two (2) years experience in a manufacturing role utilizing CNC machines or similar automated equipment
  • Three (3) years experience in a manufacturing role utilizing complex multi-axis machining centers
  • Vocational training/certification in machining
  • Experience reading & accurately interpreting shop blueprints, sketches, and other technical information/instructions
  • Demonstrated basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide, fraction conversions)
  • Experience using mics, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
  • A history of consistent employment without unexplained or significant gaps or frequent job changes
  • Completion of assigned internal training for Level I, II, or III Operators
  • Periodic retraining or recertification
  • Experience using cranes, forklifts, and similar heavy & oversized material handling equipment
  • Regular attendance on site at the workplace
  • Ability to regularly stand and walk throughout the facility
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to occasionally reach overhead and reach out or down
  • Ability to frequently climb steps, stairs, or ladders
  • Ability to frequently bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel
  • Ability to frequently use hand or fingers to manually inspect parts, tighten hardware & fixtures, and operate machine and material handling controls
  • Ability to accurately distinguish colors
  • Visual acuity to interpret readings on gauges and other measuring devices
  • Ability to use PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and safety footwear
  • Ability to pass a drug screen
  • Ability to pass a criminal background screening
  • Ability to provide a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) if required
  • Ability to provide a credit report if required
  • Ability to pass a medical physical examination if required
  • English language proficiency for verbal communication

Desired Qualifications

  • Relevant apprenticeship or vocational training in a machine shop, manufacturing technology, or similar program (considered in lieu of paid work experience for Level I)
  • Relevant apprenticeship or vocational training in a machine shop, manufacturing technology, or similar program (considered in combination with paid work experience for Level II)
  • Relevant apprenticeship or vocational training in a machine shop, manufacturing technology, or similar program (considered in combination with paid work experience for Level III)
