Job Summary
Set up and operate conventional, special purpose, and numerical control machines to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts including medical implants and instruments. Study blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and operation sequences. Select and secure fixtures, cutting tools, and materials on mills, lathes, and grinders. Monitor machine performance to detect malfunctions, adjust controls as needed, and verify finished workpieces against specifications. Debur and clean final parts while conferring with engineers to resolve machining issues. Requires rotating shifts, 8–12 hours daily, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to use basic inspection equipment and techniques
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as basic blueprints and/or operation sheets
- Basic shop math skills to include the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to bend, stoop and stand for 8 - 12 hours a day
- Must be able to work rotating shifts
