Job Summary
Develop CNC programs for lathes using CAM software like Mastercam or Esprit by analyzing engineering drawings to determine optimal machining strategies. Select cutting tools, inserts, and workholding devices, then simulate and verify programs to prevent collisions and optimize tool paths. Troubleshoot and debug programs on the shop floor to ensure efficient production while optimizing existing code for improved cycle times and surface finish. Document program details, setup sheets, and tooling lists for manufacturing. This role requires proficiency in G-code and M-code, CAD/CAM software experience, and the ability to interpret engineering blueprints and GD&T. Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in G-code and M-code programming for CNC lathes
- Demonstrated experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks CAM)
- Strong understanding of tooling, workholding, and fixture design for turning operations
- Ability to interpret engineering blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications
- Experience with part setup, offsets, and in-process adjustments on CNC lathes
- Knowledge of various materials and their machining characteristics
