CNC Lathe Machinist 2nd Shift

Job Summary
Set up, configure, and operate CNC lathe machines while loading materials, selecting cutting tools, and adjusting program codes for FANUC or similar controls. Monitor tool wear, inspect finished parts with precision instruments like micrometers and calipers, and verify dimensions against engineering drawings and schematics. Collaborate daily with QC, engineering, and production teams to conduct in-process checks, manage first article inspections, and address machine malfunctions or specification deviations. Maintain accurate records of machine settings and production data, provide "G" codes for programming, and offer guidance to junior machinists. Adhere strictly to safety protocols and MES transaction requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience in a metal fabricating environment with knowledge of machining
- Ability to interpret drawings
- Use of standard precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and check threads
- Basic understanding of metals and alloys
- Proficiency in common arithmetic operations and geometry calculations
- Analytical and communication skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and troubleshoot issues effectively
- Effectiveness in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull
- Continuous standing and/or walking
- Moderate physical effort - working frequently with average weights of ten to fifty pounds or continuously with lighter weights
- Good eye/hand/foot coordination and good visual acuity - cannot be colorblind
- Ability to work in a cold, hot, and/or dusty environment, with noisy conditions
- Forklift certification
- Willingness to work the required overtime as per company sales demands
- Availability to participate in the 'Call Out' schedule
- Openness to work some weekends based on sales demands
