Job Summary
Set up and operate CNC lathes with minimum supervision, selecting proper tooling and determining speeds and feeds to produce rolls meeting .0005 inch tolerance specifications. Write CNC programs from blueprints using GibbsCAM or G-Code, and spiral grooves while adhering to written set-up sheets and verbal instructions. Utilize inspection instruments including micrometers, bore gauges, and calipers to ensure quality standards. Pass shop math tests and follow safety protocols while utilizing support equipment like boring bars and steadyrests. This 2nd shift role requires proficiency in conversational programming and CAD/CAM software within the web handling and converting industry.
Required Qualifications
- GibbsCAM
- G-Code Programming
- demonstrated proficiency in the set-up and operation, with minimum supervision, on the CNC Lathe
- knowledgeable in the proficient and safe use of all required support equipment
- Understand CNC computer language
- Ability to write a CNC Lathe program from a blueprint
- Ability to use inspection and measuring instruments including mics, bore gauges, calipers
- Ability to spiral groove
- hold close tolerance work to specification of .0005 inch tolerance
- Ability to pass a shop math test
- Ability to follow written set-up sheets and verbal set-up instruction
- Ability to use all support equipment, Boring Bar and Steadyrest, etc
- Ability to use CAD/CAM software or conversational programming
