CNC Horizontal Setup Operator

Job Summary
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC horizontal machining centers to produce precision parts meeting quality and safety standards. Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions to load programs, set tools, and adjust fixtures. Conduct first-article inspections using precision measuring tools and monitor machine performance throughout production runs. Troubleshoot machining issues to minimize downtime and maintain accurate documentation of setups and offsets. Perform routine maintenance and follow all safety procedures in a manufacturing shop environment. Requires 3+ years of CNC experience, strong blueprint reading skills, and ability to work independently.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of CNC machining experience
- demonstrated setup experience on horizontal machining centers
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
- Proficient with measuring and inspection tools
- Solid understanding of cutting tools, feeds and speeds, and machining processes
- Experience working with CNC controls (Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, or similar)
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions during setups
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with or without assistance
- Manual dexterity to handle tools, fixtures, and precision instruments
- Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Desired Qualifications

- Experience with palletized horizontal machining centers
- Basic CNC program editing at the machine
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
