CNC Horizontal Boring Mill (HBM) Machinist

Job Summary
Operate horizontal boring mill machines to machine large/heavy metal or composite workpieces. Read and interpret blueprints and inspection reports; program, edit, and troubleshoot CNC-HBM controls; set up, adjust offsets, and perform tooling changes. Verify parts with precision measuring instruments, using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and depth micrometers; ensure conformance to specifications and tolerances. Maintain safe, clean shop floor; operate overhead crane; follow lean manufacturing and 5S practices; document actions and communicate across shifts; maintain equipment and perform preventive maintenance as needed. Requires ability to read and interpret drawings, understand machining guidelines, and apply mathematical calculations for layouts and reference points; strong knowledge of G&M machining codes and CNC programs; high attention to quality and safety.

- Ability / Skills to operate tow motor and overhead crane
- Read blueprints and interpret work operations sheets

- Quality standards and gauging
