Job Summary

Support the plan of care as delegated by staff nurses within the scope of skills verification while maintaining a clean and safe environment in the patient care area. Provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served, adapting behavior to the specific patient population. Communicate patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and multi-disciplinary teams, and complete documentation of patient-related tasks. Notify nursing personnel of changes in behavior or status and intervene as needed to maintain patient safety. Requires current Louisiana CNA certification, BLS, and CPI training, with a flexible schedule including 24/7, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Louisiana Certification as a Nurses' Assistant (CNA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 30 days from hire
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) to be obtained within 30 days from hire
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability)
  • Must be able to lift 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally
  • Must be able to lift 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently
  • Must be able to exert greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly
  • Must be able to move objects
  • Must be able to walk or stand to a significant degree
  • Must be able to push and/or pull of arm or leg controls
  • Must be able to work at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials
  • Must be able to work in an area where patients enter
  • Must be able to work directly with patients
  • Must be able to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
  • Must be able to remain knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements
  • Must be able to ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards
  • Must be able to immediately report any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct
  • Must be able to report patient/employee safety concerns
  • Must be able to report patient privacy concerns
  • Must be able to report other compliance-related concerns
  • Must reside in Louisiana (not Colorado, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, or Washington D.C.)
