Job Summary
Collect and record routine health data, including cultural and socioeconomic background, while reporting patient status to the registered nurse. Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, mouth care, and repositioning patients to prevent skin breakdown. Perform hourly rounding covering pain, toileting, personal needs, and possessions, and conduct blood glucose testing and vital signs monitoring. Provide feedback on the nurse-directed plan of care and patient wishes, and reinforce health teaching as directed. Maintain department cleanliness, transport patients, and float to other units as assigned. Adhere to Maryland Board of Nursing scope of practice and all regulatory guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- CNA Certification from the Maryland Board of Nursing as required by Health Occupations Article Title 8-6A-01
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to read, write and comprehend medical terminology
- Ability to use technology and equipment to perform job duties
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Effective use of proper body mechanics when handling patients, supplies and equipment
- Ability to handle a physically demanding environment
- Skills and abilities to perform all job description duties according to the age specific patient population served by their department
