Job Summary
Support the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification and maintain a clean, safe environment in the patient care area. Provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served. Communicate patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and multi-disciplinary teams while completing documentation of patient-related tasks. Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and adjusting explanations to individual communication styles. Perform other related duties as assigned and remain knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards.
Required Qualifications
- Current state of practice Certification as a Nurses' Assistant (CNA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI)
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability)
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Occupational risk for exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases
- Occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
Desired Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Hospital and telemetry experience
