Job Summary
Support the plan of care as delegated by staff nurses within the scope of skills verification for patients in the OLGMC 9S Med Tele unit. Maintain a clean and safe environment while providing care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety criteria. Communicate patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and multi-disciplinary teams, and complete documentation of patient-related tasks. Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, respecting privacy and adjusting explanations to individual needs. Monitor patients for changes in behavior or status, notifying nursing personnel as needed and intervening to maintain safety. Perform other related duties as assigned and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards.
Required Qualifications
- Current state of practice Certification as a Nurses' Assistant (CNA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 30 days from hire
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) to be obtained within 30 days from hire
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability)
- Ability to lift 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally
- Ability to lift 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently
- Ability to lift greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly
- Ability to move objects
- Ability to walk or stand to a significant degree
- Ability to push and/or pull of arm or leg controls
- Ability to work at a production rate pace
- Ability to push and/or pull of materials
- Knowledge of current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility
- Ability to ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards
- Ability to report any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct
- Ability to protect patient/employee safety
- Ability to protect patient privacy
- Ability to handle exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Ability to handle exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
Desired Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Hospital and telemetry experience
