Job Summary
Support the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification and maintain a clean, safe environment in the patient care area. Provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served, while adapting behavior to the specific patient population. Communicate patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and multi-disciplinary teams, and complete documentation of patient-related tasks. Notify nursing personnel of changes in behavior or status and intervene as needed to maintain patient safety. Adhere to all policies and procedures, including federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards.
Required Qualifications
- Current state of practice Certification as a Nurses' Assistant (CNA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 30 days from hire
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) to be obtained within 30 days from hire
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability)
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases
- Exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment
Desired Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Hospital and telemetry experience
