Job Summary
Provide continuous bedside presence and patient supervision during night shifts to ensure safety and comfort in the Seneca, Streator, and surrounding areas. Monitor patient condition, behavior, and environment while preventing falls, elopement, or self-harm through attentive observation. Assist with personal care including repositioning, toileting, bathing, and hygiene as assigned, and take and record vital signs when ordered. Document patient condition, sleep patterns, and notable changes, then promptly report significant changes to the on-call nurse. Offer families reassurance and overnight respite support while maintaining strict confidentiality. Work independently throughout overnight hours to maintain a calm, restful environment for terminally ill patients and their families.
Required Qualifications
- Current CNA certification meeting state training requirements
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to work independently and remain alert and attentive throughout overnight hours
- Strong observational skills with the ability to recognize and report changes in patient condition
- Genuine compassion for patients and families navigating end-of-life care
Desired Qualifications
- 1+ year of hospice, home health, or related healthcare experience preferred
- Prior experience in overnight or night shift patient care preferred
