Job Summary
Provide direct patient care as a Certified Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide in hospice settings under RN supervision. Perform personal care tasks, assist with activities of daily living, safety and comfort measures, and basic monitoring (vital signs) while adhering to the plan of care. Prepare meals, assist with feeding, and help with mobility, positioning, and transfers. Maintain a clean, orderly patient living area, document care and observations per organizational procedures, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patients and families. Must be CNA in good standing; CA requires HHA in good standing plus applicable state requirements; CPR certification, valid driver’s license, and willingness to undergo background checks. Strong communication, empathy for patients and families, and ability to provide compassionate hospice care are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in good standing
- Home Health Aide (HHA) certification in good standing (California residents)
- California regulatory requirement for CNA + HHA (where applicable)
- Current CPR certification
- Valid driver’s license with insured vehicle
- Willingness to submit to criminal background check
- Ability to read and follow written instructions
- Ability to work autonomously with little direct supervision
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfort with hospice philosophy and care of terminally ill patients
- Experience or ability to complete plan of care documentation
- Flexible in work hours to ensure patient care per plan of care
