Job Summary
Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, transferring, and mobility. Engage residents in meaningful conversation, socialization, and activities while observing for changes in physical, emotional, mental, or behavioral conditions. Uphold residents' rights, complete documentation such as incident reports and change of condition reports, and respond promptly to all resident needs. Perform housekeeping duties by making beds, emptying garbage, changing linens, cleaning dining areas, and maintaining resident rooms and equipment. Maintain a positive attitude, attend staff meetings and training, answer phones, and promote customer service by treating residents, families, and visitors courteously. Work full-time or part-time shifts including weekends and holidays, with medium physical requirements and potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a licensed CNA
- Must be able to read, write and speak English to communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and other staff members
- Must be able to perform job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must be able to work full-time or part-time as agreed upon, on assigned shift, including weekend and holiday rotations
- Medium work – Ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
- Must be able to see well enough to write and read, and to visually interact with residents, families, and staff
- Must be able to speak and hear well enough to verbally interact with residents, families and staff
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience working with the elderly in a residential or long-term care setting also preferred
