Job Summary
Assist patients with activities of daily living by serving meals, feeding patients, ambulating, turning, and positioning them while maintaining their comfort and safety. Check vital signs and weight, answer call lights, and report observations to the nursing supervisor. Document actions through forms, reports, and logs while following hospital policies, federal, state, and CMS standards. Perform clerical duties, stock supplies, and assist with housekeeping as needed. Transport patients and equipment throughout the hospital, maintain vigilance on monitors, and treat patients and families with respect and dignity.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- BLS Certification
- CNA Certification
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs
- Must have visual acuity and reading ability in order to read and transcribe physician orders
- Must have ability to maintain vigilance in monitor observation despite numerous distractions
- Must have manual dexterity and skill to write legibly
- Must be able to spell
- Must have adequate hearing and communication skills
- Must be able to transport supplies, equipment and request forms to departments located throughout hospital
- Must have the ability to remain calm and efficient in emergent patient situations
Desired Qualifications
- One year experience as CNA preferred
- Good communication skills, including the ability to communicate sensitive information with empathy
