Job Summary
Provide personal hygiene assistance, help clients take prescribed medication, and assist with ambulation. Prepare meals, complete client shopping, and perform housekeeping duties while reporting unusual incidents. Act quickly and responsibly in emergency cases. Drive up to 50+ miles per day and lift up to 50+ pounds. Work assigned hours per week, including bending and standing an average of six hours daily. Deliver service to individuals in their own homes for old age, sickness, disability, or other inflictions in accordance with agency policies.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year of full-time experience in personal care or an institutional setting, such as a hospital or nursing home
- One year of full-time experience within the last five years in direct client care in a home care agency setting
- Evidence of a sympathetic attitude toward elderly care
- Demonstrated ability to read, write, and carry out directions
- Evidence of maturity and ability to deal effectively with job demands
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Must have a criminal history check conducted prior to being offered a position with the agency
- Ability to perform tasks involving activity, which may include heavy lifting and extensive bending and standing
- Ability to deal effectively with stress
- Ability to work assigned hours per week
- Ability to bend and stand an average of six (6) hours per day
- Ability to lift up to 50+ pounds
- Ability to work in a stressful environment
- Ability to drive up to 50+ miles per day
