Job Summary
Provide person-centered care and light household services within the scope of CNA certification at Delaware Hospice, adhering to federal and state regulations. Deliver compassionate end-of-life support in patients' homes, sharing expertise with families and primary caregivers under RN guidance while maintaining a safe environment. Collaborate with the hospice team to ensure dignity and comfort for individuals navigating life's final chapter. Requires two years of experience in a hospital, extended care, or hospice setting, plus Delaware CNA certification, a valid driver's license, and the ability to lift and turn patients safely.
Required Qualifications
- Certification within the State of Delaware as a Nurse Aide or completion of a 75-hour training course and required competency testing
- Dependable transportation to patient's homes, a valid driver's license, and a clean driver's record
- Ability to lift and turn patients as needed, adhering to industry standards and guidelines for safety and correct ergonomic practices
- Comfort working in an environment where blood, body tissue, and fluids exposure may occur regularly, following all healthcare industry safety guidelines
Desired Qualifications
- Two years of experience in a hospital, extended care facility, home care, or hospice setting (preferred)
- Nursing students completing one academic year inclusive of direct patient care will be considered if certification requirements are fulfilled
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
- Sympathetic attitude toward the care of the dying patient
- Demonstrated maturity to handle the demands of the job effectively
