Job Summary
Make beds for occupied and unoccupied residents, check personal care needs frequently, and answer call lights promptly. Serve food trays and snacks, keep water pitchers filled, and maintain nursing and patient care areas as sanitary and orderly. Record supply charges, participate in the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care, and attend in-service training and performance improvement meetings. Comply with all center policies, laws, and regulations regarding elder abuse reporting and HIPAA. Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as scheduled in a 24-hour environment with significant physical lifting demands.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Ability to relate positively, effectively and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other center staff
- Possess special interest in, and a positive attitude about, working with long-term care residents and the elderly
- Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications
- Works overtime, holidays and weekends as scheduled
- Complies with laws and regulations applicable to position and acts in accordance with Center's Compliance Program
- Attends and participates in in-service training, performance improvement (PI) committees and other meetings as scheduled and directed
- Treats all residents, visitors, and staff with courtesy
- Follows center dress and hygiene policies
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds unassisted
- Must be able to bend, stoop, twist, push and pull
- Must be able to stand
- Must be able to provide lifting and transfer assistance to residents/patients
- Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to blood, body fluids, burn, infections diseases, air contaminants (including tobacco smoke), hazardous chemicals, and the Hepatitis B virus
- Must be a Mandated Reporter regarding the suspicion of elder abuse
- Must be able to access and handle Protected Health Information (PHI)
- Must agree to perform the position in a safe manner and in accordance with the facility's established procedures
- Must understand that employment is at will and may be terminated at any time with or without prior notice
