Job Summary
CMT Technician I performs field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable standards. Works with engineers and project managers, travels to construction sites primarily throughout the Abilene, TX area with potential overnight or weekend work, conducts field density testing using a nuclear density gauge, performs field QC testing of in-place concrete, conducts soil density testing, records field observations, and supports safety and QA/QC activities at active sites. Requires Nuclear Density Gauge Safety Training and HazMat certification, ACI Field Technician Certification (or ability to obtain shortly after hire), and willingness to travel. Entry-level career position with opportunities for growth within Atlas Technical Consultants’ materials testing team.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- 1-3 years of construction materials testing or related construction experience
- Experience performing soil density testing using a nuclear density gauge
- Completion of Nuclear Density Gauge Safety Training and HazMat certification
- Experience performing concrete testing
- ACI Field Technician Certification required (or ability to obtain shortly after hire)
- TXDOT SB-102 Certification preferred
- Ability to lift and transport testing equipment
- Willingness to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or overnight travel as required
