Job Summary
Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field & Laboratory Technician to perform field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate materials in support of commercial, residential, industrial, and public works construction projects. Responsibilities include field testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate materials per ASTM/AASHTO specs; soil density testing using nuclear density gauges; concrete testing (slump, air content, temperature, cylinder casting); observing earthwork and concrete placement; recording observations and results; communicating testing results to project managers, contractors, and clients; collecting, transporting, receiving, sampling, and preparing materials for laboratory testing; laboratory testing including Proctor, sieve analysis, Atterberg Limits, sand equivalent, compression, aggregate, and asphalt testing; calculating and reporting lab and field results; maintaining testing equipment, vehicles, and lab facilities; following safety procedures and radiation safety requirements; assisting with additional testing and project-related duties; preferred certifications in various CMT-related areas and preferred experience in field density testing, concrete/asphalt testing, QA/QC services; strong attention to detail, mathematical skills, ability to work independently and in a team, and good communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, and electronic reporting systems
- Ability to read construction plans, specifications, and testing requirements
