Job Summary
Provide routine medication administration and personal care for residents to maintain high-quality care. Set up and administer medications per physician orders and state/federal regulations; account for controlled drugs each shift; chart routine medications and omissions, document observations, and prepare monthly medication records. Perform basic nursing care functions, maintain medication inventories, and participate in rounds with nurses and physicians. Maintain resident documentation and adhere to policies, safety, and infection-control standards. Attend trainings and orientation to maintain certification and enhance care quality. Requires high school diploma or GED and completion of an approved Nurse Aide Training Program with state exam within 120 days; knowledge of medication administration and ability to perform basic math; strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with residents, families, and staff. Part-time, 1st shift position at Kenwood Healthcare Center.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Graduate of an approved Nurse Aide Training Program or eligible to enter such a program and graduate and pass a state test within 120 days
- Understanding of medication administration procedures and completion of a state approved training course
- Ability to perform basic math functions
- Understanding of resident care procedures and standards
- Ability to make independent decisions
- Prior healthcare experience desirable
- Ability to interact effectively with staff, residents, family, visitors, and government agencies
- Willingness to work harmoniously with all staff
- Willingness to learn and incorporate new methods into nursing practice
- Ability to relate information concerning a resident’s condition
