Job Summary

Develop software applications, firmware, and GUIs for robotic devices supporting astronaut health in reduced gravity environments like the ISS and Gateway. Generate and maintain software for sensorimotor training tools, perform system integration and testing, and coordinate verification duties for counter measures systems. Review design artifacts for completeness and troubleshoot software integration issues while communicating effectively with hardware teams. Work onsite at Johnson Space Center on a 9/80 schedule, utilizing Python, C/C++, and SQL to analyze data and develop AI/ML models for human technology development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with experience in the field or in a related area
  • Experience developing software applications
  • Interest in human technology development
  • Knowledge of Software Architecture
  • Proficiency with Linux
  • GUI development experience for user interface and backend applications
  • Proficiency with C/C++ coding
  • Familiarity with Dart/Flutter
  • Proficiency with Javascript
  • Experience communicating with hardware for reading sensors and commanding actuators
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python (as well as packages pandas and numpy)
  • Understanding of database orchestration and querying (InfluxDB3, Postgres DB using SQL)
  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new situations and a willingness to learn new technologies
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
  • Proficiency with team collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams or WebEx
  • Willingness to work onsite at Johnson Space Center
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency
  • Ability to complete a U.S. government background investigation

  • Adept at analyzing and interpreting data, data exploration, and AI/ML model development using Python, R, or other tools
