Job Summary
CMS Classroom Teacher Assistant provides support to the classroom by assisting the teacher with maintaining an effective instructional environment. Responsibilities include clerical duties to compile student records, preparing and distributing materials, supervising and guiding students in small groups, reading aloud to students, assisting in the media center, helping with classroom routines and materials management, supervising during drills and field trips, and supporting substitute teachers. Requires a high school diploma or GED, computer literacy, a cheerful attitude, ability to work with students and staff, organizational and confidentiality responsibilities, and adherence to school policies. Reports to Assigned Teacher and/or Site Principal; duties align with the SECNP Master contract.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Working knowledge of computers and general office machines
- Ability to work with students, teacher, patrons, administrators and co-workers
- Demonstrate cheerful attitude and good personal hygiene
- Promote positive self-concept and promptness/good attendance
- Demonstrate good work habits and time management
- Report to Assigned Teacher and/or Site Principal
- Fulfills duties per SECNP Master contract
- Ability to assist in maintaining classroom activities and environment
- Assist with clerical duties to compile student records and folders
- Assist with supervision during drills, assemblies, field trips, and play periods
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical behavior as expected of licensed teachers
- Perform other duties as assigned by teacher/principal
